Evolution Imaging

PEDIATRIC MRI

Quicker Appointments. Faster Scans. Happier Kids.

Evolution Imaging already improves the adult experience by utilizing the new Siemens 1.5T MAGNETOM Aera system. The Aera’s more spacious exam area and larger bore help to create a more comfortable atmosphere for your child. But we don’t just stop with the equipment. We’ve gone above and beyond to make the atmosphere more enjoyable for kids as well.

IMPROVING YOUR PEDIATRIC MRI EXPERIENCE

Children have a hard time sitting still and wiggling during your MRI makes it impossible to get quality images. That’s why most facilities like ours require sedation to conduct an MRI on a child under 10. At Evolution Imaging, though, we evaluate each child and their situation individually in order to determine if they’re a good candidate for a non-sedation MRI.

Why is it so important to offer this service?

  • The truth is every sedation comes with risks. Therefore, if we can avoid putting a child under, we should! It will also mean faster scheduling.

  • Sedation MRIs for children are booked months in advance, but our non-sedation pediatric MRIs are typically scheduled within 48 hours.

  • The sooner we scan, the quicker we can diagnose and the faster your child gets better.

How is Evolution Imaging able to offer non-sedation MRIs for children when others can’t?

Evolution Imaging has created a space where children are more comfortable in a variety of ways.

  • Our new MRI machine is faster! The majority of children can sit still for the 15 minutes it takes to complete most of our scans, while scan time at other facilities is usually twice as long.

  • We supply a headset for your child so they can listen to calming music and guidance from our technologist.

  • You are welcome to be in the exam room to comfort your child during the scan.

  • Our pediatric MRI patients can even bring a favorite stuffed animal or blanket to help soothe them during the scan.

ACR Seal

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed.

Answering Your Questions

FAQ’s

  • We do, but it still isn’t right for every child. The likelihood of getting your child through an exam with good images is very dependent on your child. We look at each case individually and consider the difficulty of scanning the particular body part as well as the child’s age, demeanor and overall behavior.

  • We do not perform sedation MRIs.

  • Typically between 5 and 6 years old. But this is very dependent on the body part scanned as well as your child’s demeanor and ability to remain still for 15 to 20 minutes. For example, a 5-year-old child may do well scanning an ankle or knee but will likely need sedation for an MRI of the brain with contrast.

  • We offer appointments within 48 hours.

  • We are in network with most major insurance providers. If we aren’t in your provider’s network, we offer cash rates that are often a fraction of the cost if the service is performed in a hospital-based facility.
