Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRIs are so commonplace now that we often forget how absolutely miraculous they are. Just imagine, a non-invasive imaging technique that uses magnetic fields 500 times more powerful than that of Earth to deliver unique views of the human body without the danger of ionizing radiation.

Evolution Imaging utilizes the new Siemans 1.5T MAGNETOM Aera system. The Aera offers a more spacious exam for people up to 550 lb/250 kg. Its larger bore space (70 cm.) can help reduce anxiety and its speed means faster exams, resulting in a more comfortable and efficient experience for you.

In addition, the detailed images it provides to your doctors can enhance clinical confidence — giving you one of the highest quality MRI exams available today.

Improving Your MRI Experience

Most patients who undergo an MRI scan experience some level of anxiety. As a result, some move so much that there is interference with image quality. Worse, the patient may not be able to finish the test as ordered. This can result in barriers to obtaining a comprehensive diagnosis and often leads to increased costs and health risks.

Evolution helps reduce anxiety by turning the MRI, or Luxury Imaging Experience, into a comfortable, fast and entertaining experience that will exceed your expectations. We have created a relaxing atmosphere with calming design elements—a comfort zone for patients. Enhanced noise reduction and technology-assisted relaxation techniques while inside the spacious exam area helps reduce anxiety and fear. Evolution strives to deliver fast and fluid scans with maximum image clarity and minimum patient discomfort.

ACR Seal

The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards after a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures and quality assurance programs are assessed.

MRI Explained

How Does it Work?

MRI has been part of routine medical practice for years. The big tubes produce fascinating images. But how exactly does it work?

Answering Your Questions

Closed vs. Open MRI

  • We do not. That said, our closed scanner is newer, faster, and provides far superior image quality compared to an open concept. It also has a 70 cm bore space which is much larger than some of the older machines and the total length of the scanner is about half in distance. This creates a far more spacious environment for a patient and allows for more breathing room and head space.

  • An MRI uses magnetic energy in order to help produce the incredibly detailed images. The higher in strength the Tesla COMBINED with an environment that does NOT allow for artifact to obstruct views is the trick to getting outstanding quality images. We at Evolution Imaging pride ourselves on the quality of our images and we highly encourage you to come and take a look at our scanner before you decide to spend your money on a scan at an open facility that may not produce quite the results your doctor is looking for. It could save you a LOT of money and unnecessary time in a scanner in the long run

  • On top of the aforementioned points, consider that an open MRI is only open on the sides. The top of the bore is flat and still very close to your face. In our larger bore that is shorter in length, we have found that patients who have had both an Open and our Closed MRI, much prefer our overall experience combined with a shorter overall scan time.

Insurance vs. Cash

  • We are currently in network with the following providers:

  • If you are on a high deductible plan that you have not met much or any of that deductible, consider looking at the cash rates Pricing | Evolution Imaging (evolution-imaging.com) We could save you a considerable amount of money in comparison to a hospital-based facility. Our scan prices are about a third of what they would be if you chose to go to a hospital.

  • If you have any insurance policy that is not previously mentioned, please call our office at 405-652-0445 and we can list some available options.

MRI contrast FAQ

  • We use Dotarem

  • Yes, below are the different types of contrast:

Group 1 (Agents associated with the greatest number of NSF cases) Omniscan, Magnevist, OptiMark

Group 2 (Agents associated with few, if any, unconfounded cases of NSF) Multihance, Gadavist, Dotarem, Prohance

Group 3 (Agents for which data remains limited regarding NSF risk, but for which few, if any unconfounded cases of NSF have been reported)

  • Any time you introduce a foreign substance to your system there is a risk, but we use Group 2 contrast for increased patient safety
